| After a great
deal of thought and consideration (as well as anxiety and sleepless nights)
I have made the decision to cancel the Fall 2009 MAAM next weekend. Because
of the economic climate, which translates into lack of sales and reluctance
of dealers to invest in inventory as well as shoulder the cost of booth
rents, food and lodging expenses and gas prices, I have decided to simply
sit tight for the fall season. Unfortunately cards and posters, ads and
banners have been mailed, distributed, placed and hung. I apologize to
all, buyers and sellers alike, who will be disappointed by this decision.
Dealers are
being notified, and so far the reaction has been extremely supportive,
with all vowing to return in the spring. Dates for the 2010 shows, on last
full weekends of March and October (March 27/28 and October 30/31) are
being held by the Howard County Fair Association, who join me in the expectation
that things will not just improve, but truly gather speed for success. |
